Thorpe Family

ps1.jpg

Who says everyone needs to be looking at the camera to make a good portrait? While this large family photo is an absolute gem (have you ever tried to get 10 kids to look at the camera at the same time?!), some of my favorite shots are the candid moments between cousins, siblings, grandparents, and spouses.

I was out of breath chasing all of these kiddos around like crazy during our shoot, so I also gained a mass amount of respect for their parents who do it every day, haha! I can’t wait for all of the cousins to look back on these photos when they are teenagers. So fun!

I adore this wonderful family!

Baby Rory

I usually just blog weddings or engagement sessions, but lately I’ve been reflecting on how blessed I am with this job. What other job in the world allows you into the most intimate parts of people’s lives, and not just one moment, but every milestone in their life? I’m so thankful for this job. From engagement photos, to wedding photos, maternity photos, and newborn photos - I am forever thankful for clients like Ricki and Nolan who include me in (and trust me with) the best moments of their lives. I had to share a mix of photos I’ve taken of them over the last 2.5 years because they are my most giggly and joyful clients ever! I was on my way to their house the other day, driving to meet Rory and do the newborn shoot, thinking to myself “there’s no way they are as giggly and full of life right now as they were for engagement, wedding, and maternity photos….” being new parents and getting no sleep at all, I figured. Silly me. These two are always full of life, making each other laugh, and making me smile. Nothing has changed, even though they are running on minimal sleep these days.

Ricki, Nolan, and Rory - I have so much love for you guys!

I, by no means, claim to be a “newborn photographer” because those photogs are beyond talented and know way more about what they’re doing than I do with tiny humans. However, I can’t pass up an opportunity to capture real life moments and milestones for my beloved clients!

So, enjoy a few more photos of sweet little Rory…

The Beltons

I got to meet this sweet family at a 4th of July party this year, and Hillary and I connected right away on the fact that we are both wedding photographers. Then what happened after that was kind of ironic. I received a message from Hillary recently, asking if I was going to come her way in the near future to possibly do family portraits for her... about 2 hours before that, however, I received an email from Drew, her husband, wanting to setup a surprise family portrait shoot for an anniversary gift for Hillary. What's crazy is they hadn't even discussed this at all with each other, neither of them even knew each other contacted me ha! So I went ahead and told Hillary "no", and told Drew "yes" so that we could plan the big surprise. I showed up at their home near Chelan, WA on their anniversary mid-afternoon, and there definitely was pure shock, excitement, and a little bit of tears. As a photographer, I knew how important family portraits were going to be for Hillary because as photographers, we are always behind the lens and sometimes our own personal lives don't get captured as often - so I knew this was going to be SO special for her. It's always a bit intimidating capturing a PHOTOGRAPHER'S family portraits, but also a HUGE honor. I just adore this little family and had so much fun capturing their love for reach other. Remy is the sweetest little 7 month old, and what a beauty! And of course we had to get Rudy, the pup, in some shots as well. Drew - thanks for trusting me to pull off the awesome surprise and you are SO, so thoughtful to have set this up for your wife, it was so wonderful to get to be a part of it! Hillary - I am so lucky to have met you, and am so excited to hang out with you and/or hopefully work with you in the near future! Love when clients become friends :)
